KEMAMAN BY-ELECTION | BN claimed that the Facebook page of its candidate Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor has been hacked by certain quarters.
“I regret the action by certain quarters who have hacked the Facebook account of the BN candidate.
“This is a desperate and cowardly act by quarters who want to weaken Raja Mohamed Affandi's rising popularity among Kemaman voters on the eve of this Saturday's polling,” BN's Kemaman election director Ahmad Said claimed in a statement today.
Ahmad did not provide evidence of the alleged hack, and Malaysiakini cannot independently verify the claim.
A check by Malaysiakini revealed that a Facebook page bearing Raja Mohamed Affandi was active 16 hours ago, with a post of a live stream of a BN by-election forum.
Following the alleged hack, the page which had over 7,000 followers, was replaced with a new account bearing the name Raja Mohamed Affandi RMA.
Meanwhile, Ahmad (above), who is also the Terengganu Umno chairperson, said that reports will be lodged with the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) on the matter.
“I hope the incident will not weaken the fighting spirit of Raja Mohamed Affandi and the party machinery who have worked tirelessly to ensure a BN victory in the by-election,” Ahmad added.
Earlier this week, Raja Mohamed Affandi, who is the former chief of defence, lodged a report with MCMC over a fake Facebook account bearing his name and photo.
According to him, the fake account posted various types of insults and indecent content, which he would never do or say.
On Dec 2, Raja Mohamed Affandi will take on Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar of PAS. - Mkini
