A man was jailed for six months and fined RM500 at the Marang Magistrates’ Court in Terengganu for the offence of displaying an Israeli flag on Oct 19.
According to a report by Harian Metro, Harma Zulfika Deraman, 30, also faces an additional three months in prison if he fails to pay the fine.
It is understood that his sentence will begin after he completes a five-year prison sentence under Section 39C of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which was handed to him last month.
Magistrate Zur Azureen Zainalkefli made the decision after the accused pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 3(1) of the National Emblem (Exhibition Control) Act 1949 which states that “no person shall display in public, or at, or within any school, any national emblem”.
He allegedly committed the act at a vehicle accessory shop in Kampung Padang Lebam, Bukit Payong, Marang, at 1pm on Oct 19.
Last month Harma was sentenced to five years’ jail and one stroke of the rotan for the drug offence. - Mkini
