KJ: Hold outdoor screening of Tanda Putera in Penang
The Information Department should screen Tanda Putera in an outdoor cinema to counter urgings by the Penang government and other quarters for the controversial film not to be screened, said Khairy Jamaluddin.
In slamming the “request” by the Penang government, the youth and sports minister said such a historical film should be viewed as it tells the story of fellow statesmen who rescued the nation following the May 13, 1969 racial riots.
Telling the rakyat to catch the movie, Khairy (right) stated that the government was not angry at any one race.
“The film shows events in history where we were angry at the Communists, comprising the Chinese and Malays. We are angry at the terrorists, not at any race.
“I hope they (cinema operators) carry on (screening the movie). Despite efforts in Penand and elsewhere to block (the screening), I ask the Information Department to send mobile cinemas to all fields in Penang.
“Screen Tanda Putera, if indeed it is not allowed,” he said during a press conference this morning.
