Nurul denies Pak Lah book invite was an attempt to 'BRIDGE TIES'

Nurul denies Pak Lah book invite was an attempt to 'BRIDGE TIES'
VIDEO INSERTED PETALING JAYA - Nurul Izzah, the daughter of Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, denied that an invitation extended to her to launch a book on former prime minister Abdullah Badawi was an attempt to bridge ties, as widely speculated in political circles both within and outside Umno.
"I actually view the politicization of the book as a very good thing because it actually boosts up the production of an academic book which is very rare in this country," she told reporters when door-stopped after a press conference at her party headquarters on Monday.
"No, at the end of the day it is a collection of stories, commentaries on Pak Lah, not his autobiography. I think that has to be made clear and when I was asked... well, we are talking about new politics where each and every administration, its strengths and flaws should be evaluated properly so that we can build on its strengths and we can avoid future mistakes. I am sad that it has taken such a turn but as I have said , go buy the book."
Later, when asked by Malaysia Chronicle, Nurul confirmed the invitation came from the editors of the book on Abdullah, who is also called Pak Lah. The controversial book, titled Awakening: The Abdullah Badawi Years, is a compilation of 35 essays and was edited by political analysts Bridget Welsh and James Chin.
Indeed, Awakening looks set to become a best seller when it finally hits the stand later this month due to several revealing and critical comments made by Badawi about his predecessor, former premier Mahathir Mohamad.
