Police deny interviewing Seri Pristana pupils

Police have denied questioning the pupils of SK Seri Pristana as alleged by some parents to MIC.

NONE"There is no such thing. There was never any instruction on my part. I did not ask any officer to do so. In any case, what would the children know?" said Sungai Buloh district police chief Junaidi Bujang.
He was commenting on a statement made by MIC strategy director S Vell Paari who said that parents had complained to him that their children were questioned by police without parental consent.

Yesterday, parent V Kumaresan, 32, was singled out by headmaster Mohd Nasir Mohd Noor in an identification parade as having issued a death threat against the headmaster.

He was arrested and released on bail, and is expected to be charged with criminal intimidation on Sept 9.

Taking photos not an offence
Kumaresan had previously also lodged a police report against the headmaster and the school staff for allegedly taking photographs of his daughter.

Commenting on this, Junaidi said: "We received the report. We have recorded statements and the matter is under observation.”

"I don't see the offence in a school staff member taking photographs of students, and without an offence, we cannot charge.

"This could be a (disciplinary) matter and is in the ambit of the education department, and not the police," he added.

SK Seri Pristana was embroiled  in a controversy last month when a parent exposed that the children were made to eat in a shower room.

Mohd Nasir explained that the shower room was converted into a meal room as the canteen was too small.

He said it was used by non-Muslim students during Ramadan as the canteen was under renovation then.
