Sabah RCI officers interview Anwar Ibrahim

The royal commission of inquiry (RCI) panel on illegal immigration in Sabah has interviewed PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim over the matter today.

His lawyer Latheefa Koya said two of the panel’s investigating officers led by Supt Zainuddin Ismail came to the PKR headquarters at about 3.30pm today, and spent about an hour recording Anwar’s statement.

“Basically the questions revolve around whether he is aware of the illegal Project IC, whether he was involved, whether he knew who was involved, and what are his recommendations to resolve this problem,” she told Malaysiakini today.

NONEShe said she could not reveal Anwar’s (right in photo) responses yet since investigations are still ongoing, but he had given his full cooperation.

The RCI was set up to probe allegations of a citizenship-for-votes scheme in the late-1980s and early 1990s, during which Anwar was the deputy prime minister and finance minister.

No date has been set yet on when he would testify at the RCI, which would resume on Aug 15 at the Kota Kinabalu High Court.
