DAP’s Seputeh MP Teresa Kok has filed a police report on a "malicious" blog posting that she claims is “seditious”, in that it can incite hatred against her.
Kok urged the Sri Petaling police to investigate the posting titled‘Cina pun mahu duit zakat - Teresa Kok’ (Chinese too want tithe money - Teresa Kok), posted on bnbesut.blogspot.com between Aug 4 and 5.
The posting (right) has since been widely shared on Facebook and other social networks, she said."This is criminal defamation... the police have to check it. It is also a form of sedition because it can make the Muslims hate me," Kok told Malaysiakiniafter lodging her report this morning.
She said she was taking this “pre-emptive” step to prevent the police from going after her, as had happened in 2008 when she was detained under the Internal Security Act for a week “due to malicious lies”.
Kok said she would next lodge a complaint with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to act against the blogger, who is yet to be identified.
