Teresa Kok reports blog post, calls it criminal defamation, seditious

DAP's Teresa Kok has lodged a police report on a blog post which claimed that she wanted a share of Muslim tithes.

The Seputeh MP said the post, called “Cina pun mahu duit zakat - Teresa Kok”, posted on bnbesut.blogspot.com was seditious and could incite Muslims to hate her as it was widely shared on social networking sites.

"This is criminal defamation and sedition. The police have to investigate this," Kok said today after making the report at the Seri Petaling police station in Selangor.

She will also lodge a report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission against the blog's writer, who is yet to be identified.

She said she also lodged the report as a precaution, so that the police would not go after her again, referring to when she had been detained for a week under the now repealed Internal Security Act in 2008 for “malicious lies”.

"The police have taken my statement but have not classified the case," she said or yesterday’s report.
