Isma's rose flays 'raving' Kit Siang over sexist label

TELUK INTAN Stop raving like a possessed person when speaking about Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma), the movement's women chief Norsaleha Mohd Salleh has told DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang.

She told the Gelang Patah MP that Isma is an Islamic movement and has "nothing to do with gender extremism".

"If you want to talk about Isma, do your homework first. Especially about the position of women in Isma," she lashed out on its portal.

Norsaleha (right) was responding to Lim who had claimed that NGO does not respect women and labelled its leaders as male chauvinists.

The DAP leader had reacted to Isma vice-president Abdul Rahman Mat Dali, who described the party’s candidate for the Teluk Intan by-election Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud as "cheap candy" to fool Malay voters.

Commenting further, Norsaleha asked Lim to state when Isma had equated women with cheap candies.

"The Isma vice-president's statement is that DAP is using Dyana to fool the Malays. There is no instance of Isma disrespecting women.

"On the contrary, DAP is the one who are using women for their interests," she said.

In a comment piece, Abdul Rahman had cautioned Muslims and Malays not to fall for the bait and reminded them that the nature of DAP is "against the implementation of Islam".

Rahman also pointed out that DAP champions socialism and secularism, which cannot be on the same path as Islam.

"Have you forgotten that DAP's biggest struggle is to create equality and destroy the special privileges of the Malays and the position of Islam?” he asked.

Defending his former political secretary, Lim said it was clear from Isma’s statement that they don’t respect women.

"If they want to call Dyana cheap candy, I want to describe them as male chauvinists," he added.
