Kuantan DAP office hit by flying kicks and eggs

A group claiming to be Umno Youth and Malay NGO members attacked the DAP office in Kuantan this afternoon.

They damaged the front door and signboard as well as pelted the building with eggs.

The incident happened despite Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin saying he has instructed the wing's members to calm down.

A short video bySin Chew Dailyshowed several protesters taking turns to unleash flying kicks on the front door while two others battered the signboard with a wooden rod.

DAP organ Rocket stated that the protesters, sporting red headbands, carried placards and banners denouncing the party, one spelling 'racist' as 'rasict'.

Another banner warned DAP not to "play with fire by challenging the Malays".

According to eyewitness Kamarul Hatta Mohamed Ali (right), the 3pm protest was led by Indera Mahkota division Umno Youth chief Muhammad Faiz Hashim.

Speaking to Malaysiakini, he described the protest as "quite violent" and that the protesters pelted "around 20 eggs" at the building.

"They chanted 'Hidup Melayu' (long live the Malays).

"They wanted to hand over a memorandum but there was no one (in the office)," said the assistant to PKR Semambu assemblyperson Lee Chean Chung.

Kamarul said the protesters also trampled and burnt a poster of DAP Seri Delima assemblyperson RSN Rayer.

Despite some 10 police personnel at the scene, but no action was apparently taken.

The protesters also pinned a memorandum on the front gate, which among others, demanded that Rayer apologise with immediate effect.

They also  urged DAP to cease “insulting Malays” and warned the party not to stoke racial sentiments.

The memorandum also reminded DAP of the 'social contract' and cautioned the party against questioning the special rights of the Malays.

Yesterday, Umno Youth members threatened to burn down the DAP headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, while on Wednesday, the wing's members and others had stormed the Penang state assembly building.

The protest was organised as a reaction to DAP's Seri Delima assemblyperson RSN Rayer calling some Umno members "celaka" in the Penang state assembly on Tuesday.

Rayer was at the time ticking off three Umno leaders for attending a rally against Machang Bubuk assemblyperson Lee Khai Loon in January, at which a banner blaming DAP for the May 13, 1969, racial riots was displayed.
