Zul Noordin slams critics of Brunei hudud law

Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah, one of the world’s richest persons with investments and properties around the globe, remains a “dwarf” before Allah and therefore implemented hudud law in his country, said Zulkifli Noordin.

However, the former MP lamented there are those live in what he described as the “era of animals” who strongly opposed this move.

These people in the ‘animal era’, he added, engaged in free sex, with little or no faith in God, and it resulted in high crime rate and the worshiping of materialism to the point that there is an escalation in white collar crime.

Zulkifli’s latest blog posting comes amid a heated debate in Malaysia over PAS’ plan to implement hudud law in Kelantan. However, the former PKR and BN candidate confined his comments to the situation in Brunei.

He said the Brunei sultan did not implement hudud law because the crime rate in his nation is beyond control, but rather because he has submitted to the will of Allah.

Zulkifli (right) also noted how certain iconic figures abroad such as tycoon Richard Branson have opposed the move and threatened to boycott the sultan’s hotels in London.

“Even the US government led by Barack Obama felt that the implementation of hudud law went against human values. I would not be surprised if this group of neo-jahilliyah (state of ignorance) take stronger actions,” he said, adding that he did not rule out economic and trade sanctions.

Worse still, Zulkifli said these people might freeze the Brunei sultan’s assets as well as his and the government’s bank accounts abroad.

“Perhaps there would be immigration restrictions for the sultan and the leaders of Brunei, including the royalty.

“Perhaps Brunei’s membership in the United Nations and other international organisations may be suspended or terminated,” he added.

Not paragon of virtues

Zulkifli noted that this is what Prophet Muhammad meant when he said that there would come a time when a Muslim who wishes to lead his life according to Islamic principles would face opposition from all corners.

“I pray that Allah gives strength and guidance to the sultan and Brunei government to face all these tribulations in executing Allah’s will,” he said.

Ironically, members of the Brunei royal family, including the sultan, are not widely considered paragons of virtue and have allegedly been involved in sex scandals over the past decades.

Zulkifli, who is no stranger to controversy himself, had recently come under fire again over his remarks regarding the death of DAP leader Karpal Singh.

He said that Allah had “mematikan” (killed) Karpal, who perished in a road accident on April 17, to clear the path for PAS to implement hudud in Kelantan.
