KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister Bung Moktar Radin has called on the federal government to immediately boost supplies of Covid-19 vaccines to Sabah as the stock is beginning to dwindle.
He said the existing supply in Sabah is now insufficient, as demand for vaccinations has been increasing by the day.
“The existing supply is not enough to meet the needs of those who have registered. I understand that a hospital had to postpone appointments for the first and second doses for lack of vaccine supply,” he said in a statement today.
Bung, who is also the state minister for public works, said the vaccination rate in Sabah of about 10,000 to 11,000 people a day should be increased to 200,000 daily jabs.
However, he said, the limited supply of vaccines and other constraints had made this goal hard to achieve.
The state government had more awareness campaigns and outreach programmes had been carried out in rural areas, and more vaccination centres opened. “Unfortunately, the supply of vaccines is insufficient,” he said. - FMT
