Group nudges govt on walk-in vaccination for disabled persons

A disabled group has reminded the government not to forget the disabled community in its policy to allow some people to walk in for their Covid-19 vaccination.

This was after the government decided to allow senior citizens (aged 60 and above) to walk in for their Covid-19 vaccine. Other recipients must get an appointment.

Boleh Space, a disabled collective, reminded the government that the disabled community, like senior citizens, were under Phase 2 of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

"Very disappointed we aren't given the same option... Aren't we part of Phase 2? We want to protect ourselves too," it said on Twitter.

The government had given priority to senior citizens, disabled persons and people with chronic diseases in the vaccination programme under Phase 2 which began in April.

However, in an effort to expedite vaccination among senior citizens, they are given the option to get their shot without an appointment starting today. - Mkini
