Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah (BN-Gua Musang) has requested that his seat in the Dewan Rakyat be moved to the independent bloc.
In a letter to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Azhar Azizan Harun, Razaleigh said he was never a supporter of the Perikatan Nasional government.
"I humbly request to be moved to an appropriate seat which accommodates the spirit of BN, Umno, my voters, Umno members and the people of Malaysia so I will not be perceived as a supporter of this kerajaan gagal (failed government)," said Razaleigh.
Razaleigh is currently seated between Shahidan Kassim (BN-Arau) and Richard Riot Jaem (GPS-Serian) in the government bloc.
Since the formation of the PN government, Razaleigh has voted only once in favour of the government and that was in July 2020.
In November last year, Razaleigh was absent during the vote on Budget 2021.
In May this year, Razaleigh warned Umno that it should leave PN or pay for the coalition's "sins" in the future.
Among others, Razaleigh claimed that Umno did not agree with PN's decision to impose an emergency rule. - Mkini
