MP: Vaccine 'sabotage' must be debated in Parliament

Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil has urged Putrajaya to ensure that problems concerning the ongoing National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) be debated in the upcoming Parliament session.

This includes allegations that some people received "empty" vaccine shots and that vaccination appointments are being sold.

"People who give 'empty' vaccine shots are traitors. People who sell vaccination appointments are traitors.

"These traitors in our 'war against Covid-19' must not go unpunished. This matter must be debated when Parliament convenes on July 26 to Aug 2," said Fahmi on Twitter last night.

Yesterday, the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) said there has been one confirmed case of "no plunge" at a vaccination centre in an army camp in Kedah.

The task force also acknowledged there are ongoing investigations into similar allegations involving vaccination centres at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) and Bangi Avenue Convention Centre (BACC).

All three incidents allegedly took place on July 17.

On June 30, Khairy Jamaluddin, minister in charge of the NIP, conceded that the CITF has lodged three police reports over the illegal sale of vaccines and immunisation appointment slots.

In a special report on July 10, KiniTV uncovered how criminals are abusing the Malaysia Vaccine Administration System (MyVAS) to sell vaccination appointments.

However, it is uncertain if MPs will have a chance to debate this issue as suggested by Fahmi because the agenda for the Dewan Rakyat sitting states that there will be five days of ministerial briefings.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of Parliament and Law Takiyuddin Hassan has promised there will be debates but the Pakatan Harapan bloc has expressed doubts. - Mkini
