Dewan Rakyat speaker Azhar Azizan Harun said the first session of the full Dewan Rakyat sitting will commence on Sept 6.
The Dewan Rakyat sitting announced for July 26 until Aug 2 is a special sitting, he said.
Azhar, in a statement today, said a special notice has been issued to all MPs about the special sitting.
"I was informed that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong has acceded for the prime minister to convene the meeting even though the emergency proclamation which began on Jan 11 is still in force," he said in a statement.
The emergency will expire on Aug 1.
In a separate statement, Azhar said the full sitting, which will be the fourth session of the 14th Parliament, will begin on Sept 6.
He said the first sitting will run from Sept 6 until 30 - a total of 15 days.
A second sitting will follow for 32 days between Oct 25 and Dec 16.
The king will officiate the sitting on Sept 6.
The Agong had called for Parliament to be convened as soon as possible so that MPs can, among others, debate about the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, opposition MPs have expressed concern that the five-day Dewan Rakyat sitting will merely be a procedural session to comply with the rulers' demand without substantive debates.
The Dewan Negara will sit for three days, making it a total of eight days for Parliament to convene. - Mkini
