A letter for glovemaker Top Glove to operate in an enhanced movement control order (MCO) area in Selangor has been revoked, said a source in the International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti).
The source said it was revoked because they are not on the list of the essential services in the National Security Council's standard operating procedures.
"During system configuration, some companies were able to download the (approval) letter but they still can't use the letter because the SOP supersedes everything," the source added.
Malaysiakini had earlier sighted a Miti’s Covid-19 Intelligent Management System (CIMS) letter for Top Glove to operate its factory in Klang, which, like most of Selangor, is under the enhanced MCO.
Malaysiakini has contacted Top Glove for comment.
Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said only factories producing rice, bread, sugar, cooking oil, wheat, fresh milk, baby formula, medicine and face masks would be allowed to operate throughout the enhanced MCO period in Selangor and parts of Kuala Lumpur, starting July 3.
The Miti source stressed that CIMS letters for non-essential companies to operate in enhanced MCO areas are not valid.
This included two factories and one office in Klang and Teluk Panglima Garang, Kuala Langat which also had CIMS letters - which Malaysiakini reported on earlier today.
The enhanced MCO for most of Selangor is in force until July 16. - Mkini
