Cops are investigating a man who launched into a verbal assault after he was reprimanded for not wearing a mask.

Police confirmed they have received a police report over the incident which happened at a nasi lemak stall along Jalan Desa Bakti in Kuala Lumpur.

A 29-second video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

In the video, the man who did not wear a face mask was seen launching into a verbal assault against another customer at the nasi lemak stall.

“What you want to do? Call police ah? Call lah f**ker. Need me to buy you credit ah?” he said.

The customer at the receiving end then said: “It’s okay.”

The man then continued: “It’s okay then f*** off. Don’t talk so much. F*** off.”

“F**ker you want to kena this morning? Sunday morning you want to kena whack ah?”

The nasi lemak seller and her daughter then intervened and the customer was seen backing away from the aggressive man.

The customer, nasi lemak seller and her daughter were all masked up.

Not wearing a mask in public is an offence during the current Covid-19 lockdown.

Police said the incident is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and Regulation 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Disease (Measures Within Infected Local Areas (Movement Control) Regulations 2021 for violating the standard operating procedures (SOP) against Covid-19.

A police report was lodged by the daughter of the nasi lemak seller.

The video was recorded by a bystander who provided a copy to the nasi lemak seller.

“In the video, the suspect was seen scolding and cursing the complainant’s mother and another customer after he was reprimanded for not complying with the SOP by not wearing a face mask in a public space,” said Brickfields district deputy public chief Basri Sagoni.

Basri urged the public not to speculate on the video.
