MANGOSTEEN

Mangosteen is a tropical fruit predominantly found in Southeast Asia, especially in Malaysia and Thailand. It has a unique appearance and taste. But what are the benefits of mangosteen? Traditionally, this fruit was used to treat kidney ailments, diabetes, high blood pressure and skin conditions.

Mangosteen is a tropical fruit cultivated mainly in Southeast Asia. It is now grown in the tropical areas of East Indies, India, China, and Sri Lanka as well. The mangosteen tree has deep green leaves and a dark purple berry-like fruit. The fruit has a 1½-inch thick rind enclosing its flesh. Its flesh is so delicate that it melts in your mouth almost like ice cream! The fruit's pulp is whitish or yellowish, with crimson veins. Mangosteen fruit produces a yellow latex-like juice that is uber-flavourful.

Why is Mangosteen Popular?

Recent scientific studies suggest that this fruit possesses strong antioxidant, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. The credit goes to its rich phytonutritional profile. The active compounds in mangosteen play a crucial role in battling cancer, diabetes, heart and brain diseases.

What Are The Health Benefits Of Mangosteen?

Mangosteen is effective against inflammatory conditions like diabetes, constipation, skin diseases and potentially arthritis. Its antioxidant activity may help fight cancer.

Controls Diabetes.

Oxidative stress and insulin resistance can cause diabetes, Hyperglycemia is often the result of free radical damage. Free radicals are hyperactive chemical ions that interfere with the functionality of your organs – in this case, the pancreas.

Antioxidants counter-attack free radicals. Consuming antioxidant-rich food like mangosteen can boost the antioxidant levels in your body. Mangosteen contains phytochemicals, including xanthones and mangostins. These are potent antioxidants that can neutralize free radical activity. Mice studies suggest that mangostins and xanthones can bring down fasting blood glucose levels. They can also improve the health of insulin-producing pancreatic cells in diabetic mice. Therefore, mangosteen is a promising antidiabetic and anti-hyperglycemic agent.

Acne.

Mangosteen juice contains natural antibacterial and antimicrobial chemicals that are beneficial in treating a variety of skin conditions. Eating mangosteen can help treat acne, skin blemishes, oily skin and dry skin.

Cell repair.

In comparison to other fruits, the amount of xanthone chemicals found on the surface of this fruit is the highest. These can be used to treat skin conditions, as well as to repair and protect damaged cells in the body.

Body weight.

Mangosteen consumption is a common conventional way for weight loss. It aids in weight loss by burning fat. Its peel contains xanthones, which help in weight loss.

Menstruation.

Mangosteen can help with premenstrual symptoms such as dizziness, mood changes and hypertension. In Malaysia, a decoction of mangosteen root is used to regulate menstruation.

Stomach disorders.

The mangosteen is commonly grown in the Philippines. Its leaves and bark are used to cure diarrhea, dysentery, thrush and urinary problems.

Oxidation is the cause of ageing. Antioxidants like catechin abound in mangosteen (the antioxidant found in green tea). As a result, begin ingesting mangosteen to look younger indefinitely.

Increases energy.

This fruit can keep you feeling invigorated and refreshed throughout the day. Its nutrients will make you look younger and more rejuvenated. It gives you an energy boost.
