We have no time to entertain political drama, says Fadillah

PETALING JAYA: A leader of Sarawak’s ruling coalition GPS has dismissed talk of the so-called “Dubai Move” and reasserted the coalition’s support for Anwar Ibrahim’s unity government.

Fadillah Yusof, vice-president of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), said MPs from GPS “have no time to entertain political drama”. He said he had never heard of the alleged new attempt to bring down the current government.

“I don’t know (about ‘Dubai Move’), what is certain is that GPS has repeated many times that our priority is to have a stable and strong government. We want to focus all our energy on economic recovery and the well-being of the people,” Fadillah was quoted as saying by the Borneo Post.

Among the claims made about the “Dubai Move” was that a leader of PBB, the mainstay of the Sarawak coalition, would be offered the position of prime minister along with increased autonomy for Sarawak, including oil royalties of up to 20%.

Fadillah is a deputy prime minister and energy transition and public utilities minister in Anwar’s Cabinet.

Another minister from PBB, Nancy Shukri, also rejected claims that she and other PBB MPs had given their support to the “Dubai Move”. Nancy said she had not heard of such a move.

Nancy, who is MP for Santubong, is also the federal minister for women, family and community development. - FMT
