Sarawak gets extra 1.5mil litres of diesel amid shortage

Petronas Dagangan has said a diesel shortage at various stations is expected to persist until Dec 31.

PETALING JAYA: Sarawak received about 1.5 million litres of additional diesel today following reports that several petrol stations in the state were running low on supply.

The domestic trade and cost of living ministry said the additional fuel was delivered by Petronas Dagangan Bhd.

On Wednesday, domestic trade and cost of living minister Armizan Mohd Ali said Petronas Dagangan would deliver additional diesel to Sarawak within two days to overcome the current shortage.

The company had confirmed that several of its stations across the country are currently facing a shortage of diesel supplies. It added that the shortage was expected to persist until Dec 31.

Previously, Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen was reported as saying that the diesel shortage in the state has been ongoing for the last two weeks. He alleged that certain parties were using the subsidised fuel for industrial purposes. - FMT
