"MUNGKIN KITA KENA BERHUBUNG DENGAN PIHAK IWK" ?? KUT-KUT LAH.

Looks like the sinkhole problem in Jalan Masjid India has not been solved. Our jewellery shop used to be opposite this spot, a little to the left. Over the years there was an almost never ending issue of sinkholes across the street from our shop because there was a huge one meter diameter pipe (three feet diameter) under the road which cracked and leaked multiple times. Obviously due to ground settling or earth movement - there are buildings and also the Sungei Klang flowing there.

The leaking water would create a cavity under the road (sinkhole). When the road surface 'sank' they would dig up the road, patch the leaking pipe and fill the sinkhole. Finally around 2014 or before (more than 10 years ago), they had to cut down a tree by the roadside (because there was a cavity close to the tree) and instead of just patching up or welding up the broken pipe,  they completely  replaced a section of the one meter diameter pipe (an elbow section or bengkok section). There were no more leaks after that.

A new building has also been built (the building in the video, on the left). Now the sinkhole has moved further down the road.

Usually when a sinkhole appears, there has to be some running water or movement of water under the ground. The water leaches away or carries away the soil, creating a cavity which will finally collapse. If they do not fix this water seepage or movement of water, the problem will recur.

The water can come from a broken pipe (which happened before) or a leak from somewhere else. Water seepage from the river is not likely because the river level is much lower and further away.
