KOTA BHARU: The national flood forecasting and warning centre has forecast that 19 villages in low-lying areas within 5km of Sungai Golok are expected to experience floods from Friday to Sunday.
The centre issued a flood warning at 3.30pm today following continuous rainfall since yesterday. It predicted water levels of the river along the Malaysia-Thailand border to rise beyond dangerous levels.
Among the villages expected to be affected are Kg Kubang Rambutan, Kg Kubang Tok Deh, Kg Tersang, Kg Baroh Pial, Kg Kubang Pak Hitam, Kg Siput, Kg Kedai Lama, and Kg Lubok Gong.
Other villages such as Kg Kok Pauh, Kg Tok Rusa, Kg Banggol Sepuleh, Kg Kalor, Kg Lanchang, Kg Gual Nibung, Kg Banggol, Kg Padang Licin, Kg Serongga, Kg Tok Derpah, and Kg Gual Periok are also expected to experience similar conditions.
It said the predicted flooding could occur earlier or later than expected, depending on the rainfall in the area. - FMT
