PORT DICKSON
The federal and Negeri Sembilan governments plan to develop a tourism and service corridor aimed at boosting Port Dickson’s economic growth.

Economy minister Rafizi Ramli said a blueprint would be developed by the state government in collaboration with his ministry and other relevant ministries.

“This effort is important because of the great interest of foreign investors in developing tourism on a large scale here. Efforts to develop this corridor can be done with the involvement of all parties.

“Although the federal government will not create a new corridor authority, it can be developed directly by the state government and other ministries,” he said after an engagement session on the 13th Malaysia Plan together with Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Aminuddin Harun.

Rafizi said this corridor was also to meet the demand for better tourism, acknowledging that Port Dickson’s facilities and tourism products needed to be improved to become “world class”.

“This cannot happen with only investments from the government,” he added.

Rafizi said the new West Coast Expressway connecting Banting, Selangor-KLIA via Port Dickson, Melaka and Gelang Patah, Johor, would also boost tourism here.

“Negeri Sembilan has the potential to be more developed as a tourism centre, especially on the west coast.” - FMT
