PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional secretary-general Zambry Abdul Kadir has expressed confidence the coalition will regain control of Perlis in the next general election (GE16).
Zambry said he is confident the people have begun to see how well the unity government’s elected representatives and the state’s leaders have performed.
“Of course, the most important factor will be how the people will assess the current state government in comparison to what was achieved under BN (previously).
“All of this will certainly lead the people to think that the best government is the one led by BN and the unity government,” Bernama quoted him as saying at the Perlis BN convention in Kangar today.
BN held control over Perlis until the 2022 state election when Perikatan Nasional secured 14 of the 15 state seats.
The sole seat not won by PN was captured by Pakatan Harapan’s Gan Ay Ling in Indera Kayangan.
Zambry said BN has strong potential to reclaim Perlis, citing the coalition’s well-organised machinery and unity among its members.
He also announced that BN will hold a national convention on Nov 30, followed by a large-scale assembly on Dec 7. - FMT
