PETALING JAYA
A labourer who broke the side window of a car in a road rage incident has been punished with a RM1,000 fine by the Kuala Lumpur magistrates’ court.

Wangsa Maju police chief Lazim Ismail said Khairul Anuar Tahir, 39, pleaded guilty today to a charge of mischief under Section 427 of the Penal Code.

The section provides for a jail term of between one and five years, a fine, or both, upon conviction.

Lazim said a police report on the incident was lodged around 1.41am on Nov 26. The victim was driving his Proton Wira when a Perodua Axia tried to enter his lane, prompting him to honk to prevent a collision.

“When both vehicles stopped at a traffic light near Gleneagles Hospital, the suspect (a passenger in the Axia) came out of the car and kicked the Wira’s left door, denting the door and breaking its window,” Lazim said in a statement.

Khairul and the driver of the Axia, 35-year-old Zuadi Ludin, were arrested on Dec 1 and remanded.

Prosecutors then decided to charge Khairul while Zuadi, who is unemployed, became a prosecution witness. - FMT
