Fuziah denies claims flood aid recipients forced to become PKR members

 

PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh said those trying to slander the party by circulating the allegations had not done their homework as members no longer registered via physical forms.

PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh has denied claims that flood victims are being forced to register as party members in order to obtain aid.

Fuziah said the allegations that PKR had misused assistance meant for flood victims were unfounded and aimed at tarnishing the party’s reputation.

“I will check with my party members but my immediate response is that this is pure slander,” she told FMT.

She said those trying to slander PKR by circulating the allegations had not done their homework as members were no longer registered via physical forms.

“We no longer use forms for membership applications. Everything is now done online.”

Nonetheless, Fuziah said, PKR would investigate the allegations.

A Facebook post making the rounds had accused PKR of politicising flood assistance, with a purported victim claiming they were told to enrol as a PKR member in order to receive the aid. - FMT
