PATIs (Pendatang Asing Tanpa Izin) is a hot topic. Many are feeling alienated by what is perceived to be an invasion on their home turf.
Things are no different if the foreigner is Caucasian, who may have entered the country as a back packer on a tourist visa but then lack the funds to get home.
Posting on X, user Pedoq, what is this behaviour? (@pedoqpop) highlights one such instance where a Caucasian man is seen soliciting for alms as a means to return home.
This was purportedly at the Ulu Bernam R&R (south), with the poster urging both the police and highway concessionaires to do something about it.
Salam @PDRMsia @plus2u tolong la kutip dan hantar balik dia ni. Pahal kita pulak nak tanggung tiket dia balik kampung. Lokasi RNR Ulu Bernam arah selatan. pic.twitter.com/z8lvMIBMoL

Many said stricter border control was required with visitors needing to show their itinerary as well as having sufficient funds for the stay, not least a return ticket home, though one seemed to have gotten his Koreas mixed up.
Meanwhile, one said that these requirements were also required here, so how did this scenario come to be?
One was skeptical saying it was merely a ploy to raise funds for his next backpacking destination. He warned that people should NOT be fooled by white skin.
A few echoed this sentiment that it was normal modus operandi for these backpackers.
One noted that at one point Langkawi was full of such “beggars” soliciting donations.
One netizen asked that he raise the funds via an honest wage. She said he could clean the drains or be a janitor, underlining her post with the message that there is no such thing as a free lunch.
Some asked why this “beggar” could not be reported to the relevant embassy. There was no visible handicap or signs of illness, so why the need to beg?
One said to let the embassy handle it as they will deduct the cost of the flight later on.
One could not hide his distaste for these “white beggars” who took advantage of Malaysian kindness to fund their own holidays, highlighting that many Malaysians are not able to travel or go on holidays.
A few noted that this beggar had a swanky smart phone, that if sold could probably buy him a one-way ticket home.
One sarcastically noted that Malaysia was the land of milk and honey with Caucasians coming here to be beggars.
One netizen though had a simple solution.
