KUALA LUMPUR: A man's visit to a night market recently turned into a heartwarming moment that has since captured attention online.
TikTok user @ridernom shared how he stumbled upon children selling their hand-drawn artwork for just RM1 each at the night market in Sungai Petani, Kedah.
The children were seated at a small table with pencils and crayons, offering simple custom drawings to passersby.
Before headin into the night market to buy dinner, he placed an order with them - one drawing of a cat and one of a house - and told them he would return to collect the artwork after getting his food.
When he came back, the children handed him the two drawings he had requested.
But there was something extra.
To his surprise, they had also drawn a picture of his red motorcycle, free of charge.
He said the thoughtful gesture genuinely touched him.
"I never expected to come across young kids selling drawings at a night market.
"In this modern era, when most children are glued to their phones playing games or consuming mindless content, and when everything is being handed over to AI, there are still kids out there picking up a pencil, a crayon, or a paintbrush simply because it makes them happy.
"They didn't even offer motorcycle drawings, but they made one for me for free.
"I was truly touched. I hope these kids succeed in the art world, and that more people will appreciate art created through human effort and hard work, not by artificial intelligence."
In the comment section, netizens praised the kids for their entrepreneurship and talent.
User @aacrk1271 commented: "I'd rather buy this than AI-generated slop. I hope this kid reaches great heights in the future."
User @nurulfatinajlaash shared: "I really love these kids' drawings. They're not perfect, but they're made with sincerity."
Several other users shared similar stories about their own children.
User @noturbae8703 shared: "My kid did the same. She wanted to join me on a work trip, but I couldn't afford the ticket. So, she sold drawings to the neighbours.
"I didn't expect much, but one neighbour bought them for RM500! That was enough to cover her flight to Sarawak. It was so emotional. I later reimbursed the neighbour.
"Grateful for the kind people who made her dream come true." - NST
