Dewan Rakyat speaker Johari Abdul said he has yet to receive a resignation letter or notice from any MP, amid speculation over the status of several PKR MPs.
“None so far as of today. Thank you,” Berita Harian quoted Johari (above) as saying today.
Speculations over the resignation were fuelled after Subang MP Wong Chen posted an image on Facebook last Friday showing a letter on the Subang parliamentary service centre’s letterhead addressed to the Dewan Rakyat speaker.
Wong is expected to hold a press conference on Monday to address the matter, including the letter and his meeting with Johari.
Johari said he had also not received any resignation letter from other MPs, including five who issued a joint statement calling out Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim over restrictions to constituency allocations.
Former Umno supreme council member Puad Zarkashi has accused BN and Perikatan Nasional of abandoning their “ummah unity” rhetoric amid competition for seats in the upcoming Malacca state election.
The former Rengit assemblyperson said the tone between the two coalitions had shifted after BN expressed its intention to defend all 21 seats it won in 2021, while PAS said the cooperation model in Malacca would differ from Johor and Negeri Sembilan.

“The narrative of ummah unity disappeared in the blink of an eye. It is dishonest rhetoric in broad daylight. Honest politics in Malaysia is becoming increasingly tainted by the rhetoric of ummah unity,” said Puad in a statement on Facebook.
BN and PN had campaigned heavily on Malay unity after reaching an electoral pact for the Negeri Sembilan polls, where they went on to secure a two-thirds majority.
Umno has cautioned parties cooperating with it against allowing “third parties” to derail negotiations, citing the collapse of Muafakat Nasional.
Secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said such interference could come from within or outside the parties involved, and urged leaders to avoid public posturing before formal talks begin.

“So I think it would be better for us not to use the public media before we begin negotiations or discussions,” he said without naming the parties concerned, as quoted by Berita Harian.
Asyraf also said party members should trust their respective leaderships to negotiate in the interests of the Malays, the public and the country.
It will be an all-Malaysian men’s doubles final at the Korea Masters, after a hard-fought win by scratch pair Soh Wooi Yik-Man Wei Chong over a Japanese pair.
The duo defeated Haruki Kawabe-Kenta Matsukawa in just under an hour, winning 18-21, 22-20, 21-18.
They will face Tee Kai Wun-Yap Roy King for the Super 300 title.
Tee-Yap won without having to lift their racquets, after their Japanese opponents Shuji Sawada-Daigo Tanioka conceded a walkover in Asan.
