Dr M: Najib is enemy of the state

Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir has declared Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak as the enemy of the state due to the 1MDB scandal and RM2.6 billion in his bank account.
"Najib, in fact, is the enemy of the nation," he told the 8,000 crowd at the anti-kleptocracy rally held at Padang Timur in Petaling Jaya tonight.
"Wherever we go around the world, people will ask what had happened to the country. They used to look highly upon Malaysia. Now they look at Malaysia with disgust because the country is helmed by a thief and robber."
Najib's critics have cited the US Department of Justice's civil forfeiture suits to allege that the prime minister had been a recipient of funds that were allegedly misappropriated from 1MDB.
The prime minister has denied such allegations, while attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali has cleared him of any wrongdoing in the RM2.6 billion scandal.
Meanwhile, Mahathir said civil servants who took "dedak" (bribes) should be sacked.
However, he said, the Harapan coalition realises that some government officers are facing tremendous pressure and are forced to remain silent.
Thus if the opposition takes power in the coming polls, Mahathir pledged that they will compensate those who lose their jobs, promotions and pensions for "standing up against the kleptocracy and dare to speak the truth".
At the rally, he promised to clean the filth (najis) of corruption and make Malaysia noble (mulia) again.
Turning his guns on the MACC, Mahathir said the graftbusters' chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad should not bother lying about the "effort" they put in to eliminate corruption.
"MACC has been working hard to go Sabah to arrest people, but the biggest thief is left alone without being investigated.
"As long as there is no probe on the RM2.6 billion in Najib's private bank account, then Dzulkifli should not confuse the people (by claiming) that he is aggressively stopping (corruption)," he added.
He also claimed there was no basis and no evidence necessitating the Sabah probe, and that it was merely an attempt to weaken Harapan.

"(But) trust us, we will not be shaken even if all the donations and support from wealthy people have been stopped, we will continue our struggle," he vowed.
The MACC is currently investigating how RM1.5 billion in public funds was allegedly siphoned out of the rural projects meant for Sabah.
The probe seems to be targetting individuals currently linked to Parti Warisan Sabah president Shafie Apdal - who was rural and regional development minister when the alleged misappropriation occurred.- Mkini
