PAS gloats at anti-kleptocracy rally turnout

PAS Ulama chief Mahfodz Mohamad said the turnout at Pakatan Harapan's anti-kleptocracy rally last night could not match the party's own Fastaqim 2.0 rally which took place last month.
The low turnout at the anti-kleptocracy rally, said Mahfodz, was expected.

"I had expected it because they had been down (even before the rally) and said they weren't intending to compete with our Fastaqim which attracted 250,000 people he told journalists after an Islamic lecture in Gombak today.
Amanah president Mohamad Sabu had previously said the anti-kleptocracy rally was not aimed at competing with the Fastaqim 2.0 rally, which was part of PAS' buildup to the 14th general election.
PAS claimed its Fastaqim rally saw a turnout of 250,000 people while Harapan claimed its rally last night saw a turnout of 25,000 people, falling short of the coalition's100,000 target.
Malaysiakini estimated the rallies attracted 50,000 people and 8,000 people respectively.

Mahfodz said it did not need heavyweights like Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad to attract people to its rally.
He added that despite Harapan's attacks against PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, people still turned up to show support for him.
"That proved that despite the accusations against Tuan Guru, PAS supporters still showed strong support and prayed for his wellbeing," he said.
Abdul Hadi, who is recovering from a heart surgery, was present at the event.- Mkini
