PAS should have condemned Umno over being invited to speak at the Communist Party of China (CPC) national congress as fervently as it has attacked DAP, claimed secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.
“But it did not happen, instead Umno and PAS often label the DAP as communists, and went to the extent of saying my father, Lim Kit Siang and I are cousins of (deceased former Communist Party of Malaya secretary-general) Chin Peng.
“They continue to slander us when Chin Peng and I have different surnames.
“Perhaps Umno and PAS supporters do not understand Malaysian culture, but even if they do, have decided to slander us, when it is not true that we have links to CPC,” Lim told reporters at Seberang Perai today.
Describing the invitation to the congress as a political move, Lim said this clearly showed there are close links between Umno and the CPC.
“It is up to the people to decide whether they want PAS, who are becoming more like Umno every day, or a genuine opposition.
“It is clear, voting for PAS is no different than voting for Umno, so if you want an alternative to BN then vote Pakatan Harapan, don’t waste time voting for PAS,” he added.
Lim also cited several examples of Umno and PAS growing closer, including Umno information chief Annuar Musa saying last week that he was ready to work with PAS on an amendment to the Syariah Court (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965.
“Besides, you do not see PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang attacking Umno, but you see him hitting out at the opposition parties.
“You do not see him condemning corruption, but he is hostile to opposition parties and non-Muslims,” Lim added.- Mkini
