PETALING JAYA: A new and dangerous stunt known as “pass-out game” is trending among teenagers.
The stunt, which involves applying enormous pressure to the chest, could lead to death, reports the New Straits Times.
The game requires “players” to press a person’s chest until he or she is rendered unconscious.
A YouTube video of three teenage boys performing the stunt has been making the rounds on social media and has led to the public voicing their concerns.
The video shows two of the boys pressing their friend’s chest for about five seconds. The two, believed to be school students, were heard laughing while pressing the boy’s chest until their friend suddenly became unconscious.
The two boys panicked for a while but resumed laughing when their friend recovered.
A commentator on the video said it was fortunate that the boy had survived the ordeal.
“Don’t do things that could damage your main organs, kids these days are making jokes more dangerous nowadays. Imagine making headlines in the news because you accidentally killed your friends,” the commentator, who goes by the name Herly Md Ali, said.
The video also had a warning from the National Professor’s Council social development and welfare deputy cluster head Prof Dr Mohd Taib Dora.
He described the stunt as reckless and could lead to health complications and death.
Taib said the boy in the video could have suffered brain damage if his brain was deprived of oxygen for seven seconds.
“This dangerous act is crazy, it could cause death. The teenager might suffer a stroke or (become) paralysed,” he was quoted as saying. -FMT
