BUKIT MERTAJAM: In yet another case of road rage, an engineer was allegedly punched and threatened with a pistol yesterday – all because he sounded his car horn at another motorist.
The man, who only wanted to be known as Khoo, said the incident occurred about 12.30pm along Jalan Kampung Baru.
According to a report in TheSun, Khoo, 27, claimed he blared his car horn at a motorist when the latter suddenly came from the left side of the road and cut into his path. The motorist was driving a dark blue-coloured four-wheel-drive vehicle.
Khoo claimed the driver then forced him to stop his car.
He alleged that the man got out of his car, came up to him and punched him on the face.
“He also threatened to shoot me with a pistol,” he told reporters.
As Khoo did not want the situation to get more ugly, he apologised to the man who then drove away.
Central Seberang Prai district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid told TheSun police had received a report from Khoo.
“We are investigating the case under Section 323 and 506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation,” he was quoted as saying.
On Aug 22, teenager Mimi Zulaika Razib, who was riding pillion on a motorcycle was allegedly run over by a car driver in a road rage incident along the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway. She died.
Reports said the car driver and the motorcyclist had earlier been involved in an argument and that the motorcycle rider had allegedly kicked the car’s passenger side mirror after the argument. The car driver had then allegedly knocked the motorcycle, causing Mimi and the rider to fall. -FMT
