WHO ARE YOU TO TRAMPLE ON THE CHINESE OF SABAH – OPPOSITION SLAPS IBRAHIM ALI, WANTS HIM BARRED FROM ENTERING STATE

SABAH should emulate Sarawak in banning people like Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali from entering the state, Sabah PKR chairman Christina Liew said.

Responding to Ibrahim’s latest remarks about minority races including the Chinese in Sabah recently, Liew said Perkasa would ruin the existing peace and harmony in the state.

“Who does he think he is to try to trample upon the Chinese community of Sabah, by viciously pitting them against the indigenous people of Sabah?

“What’s his real motive or was he just talking without thinking simply because he had to say something in order to seek attention,” she said today.

Ibrahim had told minority groups in Sabah to stop making demands for policies that went against to the constitution and specifically mentioned the Unified Certificate Examination (UEC), which is granted by private secondary Chinese vernacular schools to school-leavers.

“How did he form such a ridiculous view that the demand for recognition of the long-overdue UEC is denying the rights of indigenous people in Sabah, or stepping on their heads? What’s wrong with him?” Liew said.

Ibrahim also said the minority races should be grateful to the Bumiputeras for granting and accepting them as Malaysians.

Liew said Ibrahim’s remarks showed he had little knowledge of the importance of UEC to Malaysia and that the certificate had been accepted by universities such as Harvard, Yale, MIT, Oxford, and Cambridge.

“Sarawak during the time of former chief minister, the late Adenan Satem, also recognise the UEC and has allowed students passing the exams to use it to enter public universities, as well as secure jobs in the public sector,” she added.
