PETALING JAYA: No Malaysians were injured in the series of explosions that took place in Bangkok on Friday (Aug 2) morning.
"Thus far, no Malaysians were involved in these incidents, " said the Foreign Affairs Ministry in a statement.
The ministry advised Malaysians travelling to or residing in Thailand to remain vigilant and pay close attention to personal safety at all times, particularly those in Bangkok.
"Malaysians travelling to or residing in Thailand are also encouraged to register themselves with the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok. The registration can be done either by email or fax, " it added.
The ministry noted that Malaysians requiring assistance may also contact the Embassy at +66-2-629 6800, or email mwbangkok@kln.gov.my.
It also said that three Thai civilians were injured in the explosions.
Earlier in the day, Thai media reported that several small explosions were heard in Bangkok in at least three locations.
The city is currently hosting a meeting of foreign ministers from Asean countries, as well as top diplomats from China, Russia and the United States.
None of the explosions on Friday were close to the meeting's venue.
The first two explosions were heard just before 9am at two sites near central Bangkok.
The third explosion followed shortly after at a government complex hosting several ministries on the northern side of Bangkok. - Star
