PETALING JAYA: Civil society group Tenaganita will soon be offering industrial placement to students from Taylor’s University to gain real-life experiences and knowledge in social justice and humanities.
Tenaganita executive director Glorene Das said the one-year placement will see students from the university’s upcoming Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) programme commit to 24 credits of work-based learning with her group.
“Tenaganita’s main focus is to build communities and people at the margin through promotion and protection of human rights. Today, we take a step forward to build young people so they can gain their full potential in our society.
“It is a proud moment and an achievement for Tenaganita, following the visionary pathways of our late founder, Irene Fernandez,” she said after signing a memorandum of agreement with the university.
The partnership will extend for five years.
Pradeep Nair, deputy vice-chancellor and chief academic officer at Taylor’s University, said the programme was aimed at nurturing a generation of thinkers and opinion leaders driven by values to contribute to the betterment of society.
He said the programme with Tenaganita “relates to the importance of encouraging a culture of developing good human beings”. - FMT
