PETALING JAYA: Cops have debunked a viral message, warning of unrest at Little India, Brickfields, on Friday (Aug 23) and Saturday (Aug 24).
Acting Brickfields OCPD Supt Arifai Tarawe said the message, which was spread on social media and messaging platforms, was untrue.
"The situation at Little India is safe and under control.
"We advise the people not to easily believe or spread such false news, as it can create unnecessary public distress," he said when contacted.
Stern action will be taken against any party who break the law, he added.
The viral message claimed that there might be a riot in Little India between 7pm and 9.30pm on Friday, as well as between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday. The message also warned people against going to Brickfields during such times. - Star
