Ex-MyPPP members lodge report against Kayveas over use of letterhead

KUALA LUMPUR: Former members of the deregistered MyPPP today lodged a police report against M Kayveas for allegedly misusing the party’s letterhead although it had been struck off by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) since January.
The party’s former president, Maglin Dennis D’Cruz, alleged that Kayveas had sent letters to 13 former members informing them that they had been sacked for bringing the party’s matters to the court, and declaring himself as the de facto leader of the party.
Maglin, who had been involved in a power struggle with Kayveas, said he was among the recipients of the letter.
“He can’t use MyPPP’s letterhead as well as call himself de facto leader since it has been deregistered.
“It is against the law and if you are found guilty, you can be fined RM15,000 or jailed for five years or both,” he told reporters today after lodging the report at the Dang Wangi police station.
In January, the RoS deregistered MyPPP, a former Barisan Nasional component party which had been split by differences arising from the two rival leaders since last year.
Copies of the RoS decision were said to have been sent to Kayveas and Maglin.
Maglin moved to have Kayveas expelled as president last year, a decision confirmed unanimously at the 64th MyPPP annual meeting in May, just days after the general election. - FMT
