PAS disciplinary committee has questioned the party president’s son-in-law Zaharudin Muhammad (photo) over his remarks accusing certain party leaders of being members of a “dedak cartel”.
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan confirmed the matter and said the committee will conduct further investigations.
“He has been summoned and an explanation has been given. We shall wait for the committee’s decision on its next course of action.
“We shall give the disciplinary committee ample leeway to conduct the investigation and make its decision,” he said when met during a campaign to fly the Jalur Gemilang in Kota Bharu today.
Zaharuddin had claimed about three months ago that a group of PAS leaders had received money from Umno, which he dubbed the “dedak cartel”.
He referred to members of the supposed group as “Dr Hussam II”, “Mr NT”, “Mr KT”, “Mr KH”, and a fifth individual whom “everyone knows”.
He is believed to be referring to Bacok MP Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz and Kuala Nerus MP Khairuddin Aman Razali, among others.
Dedak is a Malay word for rice husk that is used as animal feed but had been coined by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to refer to bribery.
Since Zaharuddin’s claims, PAS has imposed a gag order on all party members from discussing party matter in the media and social media platforms. - Mkini
