BELURAN: A 3.2 magnitude earthquake struck Beluran, a district in the east coast of Sabah, late last night.
This incident was reported by the Malaysian Meteorological Services Department on its website, Bernama reported.
However, there was no tsunami threat.
The incident was recorded at 33km south of Pitas with a depth of 680km.
The mild earthquake comes a couple of days after a 6.9 magnitude quake struck off the southern coast of Java.
A powerful earthquake struck Sabah on June 5, 2015, causing the deaths of 18 people, most of them on Mount Kinabalu.
Over 100 aftershocks were reportedly recorded the year following that.
Last year, a 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck Ranau and lasted for 30 seconds. - FMT
