THE Pakatan Harapan government seems unable to prevent sensitive issues of race and religion from flaring up, Umno advisory council chairman Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah said.
He said this was because none of the four parties in the ruling coalition had enough parliamentary power to make decisions.
“The government has no capacity to control issues like these because it is like a ‘hanging’ government. It doesn’t have a party that has a decisive majority in Parliament.
“As such, there is no one to set the direction whether at state or federal level,” Tengku Razaleigh said when opening the Bagan Datuk Umno division meeting today.
He said the recent case of Facebook user Wendy Loong insulting the Prophet was an example of the government’s lack of control.
Police have determined that it is a fake account.
Tengku Razaleigh, who is the Gua Musang MP, said party members should oppose those who threatened the peace by insulting race, religion and the Malay rulers.
“There are those trying to test the fabric of societal harmony. They are being seditious by using race and religion (to incite anger). This is a test for us.
“Are we just going to let this happen? Recently there was someone who insulted the Prophet. We ought to oppose such people wherever they are from.”
THE MALAYSIAN INSIGHT
Ku Li that someone who insulted the Prophet has been arrested. So the only people who are using rase and religion to gain politicsl milage is in pasumngok, your own party. I agreed with you that Government of the day should not turn a blind eyes from taking a stern action to those giving seditious comment. Come on PH and especially PDRM what are you scared of?
