PAS man won't shun federal events, believes in 'mature politics'

Former Kubang Kerian MP Ahmad Baihaki Atiqullah (photo, above) said he has no qualms over attending federal government events in Kelantan even though he is a PAS member.
Speaking to Malaysiakini at the sidelines of an event organised by Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Yadim) - a federal government agency - in Kota Bharu today, Ahmad Baihaki said his presence was the manifestation of "mature politics" often touted by PAS leaders.
"This should be the way. Political maturity propagated by PAS means we must continue to connect even if we disagree.
"It doesn't mean we should be enemies with other parties... We should celebrate our differences in opinions," he said.

Ahmad Baihaki said he does not appear at major PAS events recently because he was now just an ordinary PAS member without any positions.
"Sometimes I'm asked to fill in (for others) at small PAS events such as kuliah or takzirah(lectures)... My policy is to attend events which I believe suits (my stature as an ordinary member).
"If the Pakatan Harapan government or state government invites me, I will turn up. No problem. During my time in politics, I never liked fighting. I can befriend all," he said.
Ahmad Baihaki was ordered by his party to not stand for re-election in Kubang Kerian. PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man ran in his place.
Ahmad Baihaki clarified that although he attends federal government events, he has not attended any function organised by Harapan component parties.
"I am involved in federal government events, such as this Yadim event. Officially, I'm still a PAS member," he said.  - Mkini
