IPOH: Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu (pic) will be meeting with the state DAP leadership to discuss the plight of state executive council member Paul Yong who has been charged with rape.
Met by reporters after the launching of the Tuanku Zara Aquatic Centre by Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim on Saturday (Aug 24), Ahmad Faizal said he hoped to meet with both the party leaders and Yong in the shortest time possible.
"We are still all on good terms.
"I understand that several other Pakatan state representatives have offered their sympathies to Yong," he said when asked to comment on Yong's refusal to heed his advice to go on leave.
Yong claimed trial to raping an Indonesian maid at the Sessions Court here on Friday (Aug 23).
It was reported that Yong was adamant not to take a leave of absence, claiming that he had not committed any wrongdoing.- Star
