Shafee in the dark over about Najib's defence team members quitting

Muhammad Shafee Abdullah (above), the lead defence counsel in former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's SRC International Sdn Bhd graft trial, said he is in the dark over reports that members of his defence team had resigned.
"I do not know the arrangement," he told journalists a the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex during breaks in between Najib's trial today.
Shafee said Najib may have engaged the lawyer separately and this did not necessarily mean that they would be directly involved in the trial.
"They may have been engaged to do certain things they need to do. I am certain they are doing something, just not necessarily coming to court," he said.

He was asked to respond to reports that former solicitor-general Mohd Yusof Zainal Abiden and lawyer Kamarul Hisham Kamaruddin, as well as lawyers assisting them, had quit Najib's high-powered defence team.
Mohd Yusof and Kamarul have not responded to requests for comment.
The former premier is standing trial on seven charges of abuse of power, criminal breach of trust and money-laundering involving RM42 million from SRC International.
He is accused of receiving the sum as kickbacks for approving RM4 billion in loans to SRC International from the Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP).
Najib has denied wrongdoing or using public funds for personal gain.  - Mkini
