Trekkers kept 20 metres away from Nora Anne's body until cops arrived

SEREMBAN: The team of trekkers who spotted the remains of 15-year-old Nora Anne Quoirin on Tuesday (Aug 13) stayed approximately 20m away from her until the police arrived, says group representative Kenny Lim.
He said that the 25-member team was scouring an area along a stream when they came across a lifeless body.
"We had divided into two groups and began searching along the left and right sides of the stream.
"My group, which was walking along the left side of the stream, spotted her remains and we immediately called in the police and did not get any closer, " he said when contacted.
Lim said there was no one else in the area when they found Nora Anne's remains.
"We have had our statements recorded at the Pantai police station last night to help in the probe, " he said, adding that his group first joined in the search on Sunday (Aug 11).
A search-and-rescue team found her remains in a ravine at 1.57pm on Tuesday (Aug 13).
Her remains had to be winched up by helicopter and taken to the hospital for the post-mortem.
Nora Anne's naked body was found in a stream some 2.5km from the resort she was staying in.
The teenager disappeared from the resort she was living with her family on Aug 4. She had checked into the property with her parents Sebastian Marie Philipe and Meabh Jaseprine Quoirin and siblings Innes Julia and Maurice Arthure a day earlier.
However, she was not found in her room she shared with her siblings the following morning.
A window in the room that could only be opened from the inside was open.
The girl, who is of French-Irish parentage, had learning difficulties.- Star
