Mahathir has charted out what he wants. And Anwar is not part of that chart. So, there is no way Mahathir can allow Anwar to become the next Prime Minister. That is the long and short of it all. Anwar is not on the same page as Mahathir so that is that. End of story.
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
Raja Petra Kamarudin
Why did Tun Dr Mahathir choose Tun Musa Hitam instead of Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah as his Deputy Prime Minister in 1981?
Why did Mahathir allow Anwar Ibrahim to join Umno in 1982?
Why did Mahathir choose Tun Daim Zainuddin to replace Tengku Razaleigh as his new Finance Minister in 1984?
Why did Mahathir choose Tun Ghafar Baba to replace Tun Musa as his new number two in 1986?
Why did Mahathir choose Anwar to replace Tun Daim as his new Finance Minister in 1991?
Why did Mahathir allow Anwar to oust Tun Ghafar and take over as the new DPM in 1993?
Why did Mahathir sack Anwar and replace him with Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi as the new DPM in 1998?
Why did Mahathir force Tun Abdullah to appoint Najib Tun Razak as the new Deputy Prime Minister in 2004?
Why did Mahathir force Najib to resign in 2015 (but only happened in 2018)?
Why did Mahathir form a new party and allied PPBM with Pakatan Harapan in 2016?
Why did Mahathir appoint Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as his DPM in 2018?
Why should Mahathir allow Anwar to become Prime Minister?
Yes, many questions, which those of us who have been around since all these events happened can answer. Anyway, if you want to be enlightened, maybe you can speak to people like Ibrahim Ali, Shahrir Abdul Samad, etc., who can give you the full story of the man named Mahathir Mohamad and why he does what he does.
Mahathir never does anything without a reason. There are reasons as to why Mahathir does what he does.
And that brings us to another very important question: Why should Mahathir allow Anwar to become Prime Minister?
If you think Mahathir will appoint Anwar as the next Prime Minister because this is what DAP or PKR wants or because this was what he promised then you do not know Mahathir. From 1981 to 2018, Mahathir did not do what others wanted him to do or because this was what he promised he would do. He does what fits in to his game plan.
Does Anwar becoming the new Prime Minister fit in to Mahathir’s game plane? No! In fact, it may even disrupt his game plane because Anwar will sabotage whatever Mahathir is currently doing and has planned for the future.
Mahathir has charted out what he wants. And Anwar is not part of that chart. So, there is no way Mahathir can allow Anwar to become the next Prime Minister. That is the long and short of it all. Anwar is not on the same page as Mahathir so that is that. End of story.
