Yoursay: Lynas will be New Malaysia's final betrayal

YOURSAY | ‘Voters are not demanding miracles, but for something like Lynas, it's a straightforward thing.’
Clever Voter: It is not just the ecological responsibility that this government fails to live up to, their social responsibility to all Malaysians is at least below average.
They shout and scream when in opposition, but they remain silent when in power. Something isn't right when the same people do not do what they preach.
Voters are not demanding they bring miracles but for something like Lynas, it's a straightforward thing.
Wg321: After seven years in operation, only now Lynas is conducting preliminary work on a permanent waste disposal facility for its plant in every part of Malaysia except Australia.
Never mind. This is Tanah Melayu. Let it be covered with millions of tons of radioactive wastes in the next 100 years. If the Malays don't care, why do you care?
Anonymous_1537050742: Bentong MP Wong Tack, the last time you started your movement to get rid of the Lynas thrash, it worked or almost.
Now your whole plan got derailed because you didn't realise that in the process, you got a Pakatan Harapan thrash collector as a prime minister.
It's time for you to start another initiative to get rid of this toxic Harapan thrash collector.
Mission Accomplished: The present leadership is more interested in politics, greed and power.
They have so easily forgotten it was the people who voted them to miraculously toppled an Umno kleptocracy which ruled the country for six decades.
Lynas is a fine case of an irresponsible government that we have voted, hopefully, to see changes. What a terrible disappointment.
We have a grand old man as prime minister more interested in getting all the limelight to himself and rebuilding a racist nest.
Anonymous 770241447347646: By allowing Lynas to bury its radioactive waste on Malaysian soil is a betrayal of trust.
It should be deposed away from our shores and it was one of the promises Harapan made to the people of Gebeng.
Lynas has not kept their part of the agreement to ship back the waste. It has piled up over many years.
Yet their application for the extension of the operation permit has been renewed even after they have not fulfilled their promises.
Salvage Malaysia: Wong Tack, if I were you, I would resign as MP as a show of protest. This way you may re-contest in GE15 with your integrity intact.
Otherwise, the likelihood is that you could lose Bentong in GE15.
Fair Play: I agree with PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin 100 percent – think of the nation, don’t be selfish.
Since you are considered a non-performing cabinet minister, what not think of the nation and resign? After all, action speaks louder than words.
But would you and dare you? In the likely event Anwar is the eighth prime minister, I have no doubt you would likely be the first casualty.
Evin K: The cold hard truth is Zuraida and PKR deputy president Azmin Ali are the selfish ones here for wanting Mahathir to stay on the full term.
It’s not a secret that Azmin and Zuraida are simply buying time by wanting Mahathir to remain as premier the full term, given that both of them are no longer aligned to Anwar who will take over in a year or so.
Surely there will be a cabinet reshuffle and heads will roll. Anwar must operate with a cabinet that fully has his back if he is to lead the nation effectively and those seen as unaligned to his leadership must surely go.
The succession plan was clearly laid out for the world to see and embrace, and everyone including the international community expects Mahathir to hand over the reins to Anwar, and that is as stable of a transition as it gets.
In fact, Malaysia voted in GE14 fully expecting for that to happen.
Mahathir is ageing, he is 94 years old and he is visibly very tired. Let him rest. He has done more than enough for our nation. Wanting him to go on for the full five years is just selfish of Azmin and co.
We clearly have a good pool of leadership that Mahathir can at any time pass the baton on to today, but Azmin appears to no longer be in that pool.
He and his gang, who consist of Zuraida, Tian Chua, R Sivarasa, and more, but to mention a few, are openly causing a rift not only in PKR but Harapan for all to see.
This simply irks the voters who have voted them in, and who are now feeling short-changed by their actions.
Capo: If the nation's interest was more important than self-interest, Mahathir would have settled the succession issue with the Harapan presidential council yesterday.
Zuraida, be reminded that Mahathir is only required to honour the agreement, he is not authorised to change the succession plan that was overwhelmingly endorsed by Harapan supporters.
Don't even dream of messing with people power. What you can change and be flexible about is getting lost from PKR and joining either the Taliban or Taliban-wannabe parties. - Mkini
