KOTA KINABALU: Seven people including two children from the Philippines are feared killed when their boat capsized while attempting to enter Sabah illegally through the east coast Lahad Datu district yesterday.
The incident happened at Merabung waters off Sabah at 3pm.
Sabah Region 4 marine police commander Mohamed Pajeri Ali said the skipper of the boat, a 29-year-old man, was rescued by fishermen yesterday.
“The fishermen handed over the skipper to us. After an interrogation, we found that they were trying to get to Sabah from Sibutu, Tawi-Tawi islands in southern Philippines,” he told FMT.
Pajeri said only one body has been found so far.
“The body has been sent for a post mortem,” he said. - FMT
